STYLE - Milan Fashion Week: How To Rock The Catwalk Trends Without Looking Like A Hot Mess
Models may be able to pull these looks off on the catwalks, but let’s face it; any catwalk trend is actually impractical on a day-to-day basis. Admittedly, some people can pull some of these off everyday and create amazing street style-inspired pictures, but for those of us who feel ridiculous dressed head-to-toe in vinyl or feel like a walking and talking ice cream in pastels all over, trying to imitate some of the most iconic looks quickly becomes more like a challenge than a bit of fun experimentation.
With it being that time of the year, yes Fashion Week, we are all lusting over pieces from the seasons to come. We are all for that experimentation, but it doesn’t always go to plan, does it? Prada’s layering may look amazing on their models, but it quickly becomes reminiscent of that scene from Friends where Joey puts on all of Chandler’s clothes.
That doesn’t mean to say you can’t be bold, because you should be. Stepping out of your comfort zone works wonders from time to time, but in certain situations, you just don’t feel like it. There is nothing that quite beats the comfort of your go-to tee and jeans outfit. But trying out some of these trends and putting your own rebellious twist to them can only create some luscious outfits.
Play Hard With Prada
Buying Prada is an investment, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t be inspired by their collections. For their upcoming FW18 collection, it’s inspired by its stomping ground of Milan, and uses bright neon colors and vibrant florals to light up the city. The collection intertwines the future and the past, showing off all their past prints but also brings some new trends such as layering several neon shades.
When we saw the print from the Prada show, we instantly thought of a She Is Rebel piece that is a timeless, sophisticated way of wearing a similar print. With a somewhat Bohemian twist to the dress, our Floral Dress With Waist Tie is a piece that can be dressed up or down, but with red knee-high boots, gives a more haute couture feel to the outfit, proving you can still dress expensive without breaking the bank. Or, go full-on Prada and team your favorite opened-toe heels with the craziest of socks. We love the red heels with dark green socks!
Androgynous With No 21
No 21’s collection was so relatable for us at She Is Rebel because it was all about a woman who wants to standout and speaks her mind. They mixed masculine and feminine style codes and teamed dainty lingerie with men’s shirts for a more androgynous feel. Their upcoming collection is so wearable yet trendy.
To imitate the absolutely stunning lingerie dress that kick-started the show, we recommend layering our jaw-dropping Lace Bodysuit in black under the Strappy Knit Dress for a hint of lingerie that is still appropriate for the boardroom or for date nights.
Sportsluxe With Sportsmax
Of course, with any fall/winter collection, creators design the warmest of coats and knitwear to make sure we can still look stylish and stay warm. No more compromising warmth over style! Although, one of the looks that stole the show was in fact a pleated-midi skirt with a tight knit that will avoid that frumpiness we all dread and cinch you in at the waist.
Go for our Gold Pleated Skirt that will elongate your frame but also make any casual outfit just a little jazzier! Thrown with a white knit (Ribbed Turtleneck Sweater in White), you will have a luxurious-looking wardrobe in no time!
Pops Of Color With Salvatore Ferragamo
Inspired by The Crown and vibrancy, Salvatore Ferragamo brought their A-Game to Milan Fashion Week with a powerful collection, which saw classic tailoring teamed with bright and bold color choices. A retro feel was still present in the collection, with velvet suits at the forefront but we still saw a bit of the androgynous look we all know and love.
To imitate one of our favorite looks from the show, we would team our Cropped Trousers With Front Slit which allow you to show off your favorite boots all whilst rocking masculine tailoring, along with the Stripe Shirt With Back Tie for a more toned down version of this mustard and beige ensemble. Finish off with heeled mules, which will add a little height.
All American With Tommy
Via Daily Maily
Tommy Hilfiger is just one of those brands you now associate with the All American Girl. Edgy and cool, she is inspired by the world around her. Motor racing – something a little different for the brand, inspires the FW18 collection and the show, as always, was show-stopping. It’s all about those go faster strips and cropped streetwear for FW18, and we are so excited to test run this trend! Plus, if Gigi Hadid can’t get you to try a trend out, who can?
To go full Gigi Hadid, we would recommend our Ribbed Crop Top and Slogan Leggings With Side Stripe. To really get the Tommy Hilfiger feel, we recommend throwing a bright hooded sweatshirt over the top, preferably in red or navy, with your favorite pair of sneakers.
Now you know what pieces will take you from now till the end of time, or at least the end of FW18, what are you waiting for ladies? Be sure to recreate those iconic street style shots with confidence and tag us! We would love to see you Rebels rocking these ensembles!
