Another fashion season has been and almost gone, and in the fashion industry, that means only one thing – the hype is all around next season. Before FW18 has had time to say goodbye, we’re already eyeing up the new trends for SS19, and what we’ll be on the lookout for. Because, well, do we need an excuse?
Whilst previous seasons had us questioning practicality and wearability, SS19 seems to be everything we’ve been longing for. Of course, there are some outrageous outfits that took the catwalks, but our favorite designers seem to have got the balance just right. We whinge and we moan about ridiculous catwalk trends, but let’s get onto the positives. We can actually see ourselves rocking these trends, even in a more everyday Rebel kinda way.
If there’s another thing we can take from these catwalk trends and into our homes, it’s embracing the vitality and innovation that these shows create. If there’s one rule to being a Rebel, it’s to be vivacious in our choices – especially when it comes to style.
Let’s be honest, we already loved beige – neutrals somehow add so much depth into our outfits, and they compliment all skin tones. It just so looks so Scandi-inspired and chic. Burberry has always made the shade look classy, and other brands jumped on the bandwagon such as Dior and Kenzo. So maybe a beige a-line maxi skirt is impractical in the office – but why not adapt it to your own style? For an androgynous look, beige cropped trousers will add a classy pop of brightness with a pair of black pointed boots. Alternatively, you could wear a beige pleated skirt that would dazzle on sun-kissed and darker skin tones.
There is something so eye-catching about a puff or a fluted sleeve. It makes your outfit that more dramatic. It can even add impact to your favorite pair of jeans. Admittedly, they’re awkward to wear jackets with, but we’re (naively) hoping that it’ll soon be too warm for a jacket anyway! Moral of the story – the more extra, the better!
Ties are so versatile – not only can they be worn around your neck, but you can also use the, to customize your bag or wear as a belt. A bold print is perfect for wearing with your chicest, monochrome outfit. It’s thanks to the little details like this that you’ll elevate your outfits and give them that expensive, lux touch without breaking the bank. Who doesn’t love a bit of Parisian chic now and then?
Neutral may be one of the trends for SS19, but it doesn’t mean you can’t rock any brights. We love vibrant shades that will just pop! The bold tailoring from Sies Marjan was just eye-wateringly delicious. We’ll admit that wearing bold colors top and bottom is a bit hit or miss – we can either look like we’ve walked off the catwalk or straight out of an ice cream truck – but opt for separates if you wanna be a little more subtle with your styling. Palazzo pants in bright blueberry will look pricey with a crisp white blouse and pointed heels and will make your legs look like they go on for daaa-aaays!
Bows add a feminine touch to your outfit, even when it’s just an oversized sweater and mom jeans. Use it as a way to cinch in your figure and give you the perfect hourglass figure or add it as a bit of interest to your outfit. Little features like these will enhance the simplest of looks and make them look a lot more adventurous – because sometimes, though we hate to admit it, we don’t want to have to put too much thought into our outfit. We won’t tell if you don’t!
