STYLE – Styling Up Culottes: 5 Looks For 5 Scenarios

Hands up if you’re guilty of wearing denim like it’s pretty much a part of your DNA? Yep, just as I suspected – all of you! Spring is coming, and it’s a better time than any to hang up your favorite pair of jeans and venture into something new. This season, it’s all about the culottes, and trust us, they’ll make you feel ready to give up denim, at least for a while!

Comfortable but chic, culottes add a little retro touch to your outfit without taking it into a completely different direction. How you wear them will determine the vibe of your look – so make sure you get it right! Before you feel the pressure, it needn’t be so difficult, we have 5 different ways of styling up a trusty pair of culottes for this season, meaning that you don’t even have to think twice. Think of me as your style godmother!

1. I Want To Look Sassy

Because of the retro feel to a pair of culottes, you don’t necessarily associate them first and foremost with a sassy, sexy look – perhaps for a dinner date, a night out with the girls, or maybe you just want to shine? Throwing on a plunge V-neck or a body showing the perfect amount of flesh will make you feel empowered and ready to go out on the town. Finish the look off with an elegant black coat and heels and be prepared to turn heads!

If you are like me, and love to look casual, then culottes are the trousers you’re dreaming of. For early spring, play with textures and style up your culottes with a flattering knit. Opt for cropped or gently tuck in the front of your sweater to make sure the look doesn’t swallow you whole and that it still compliments your frame. This look is so versatile because you can wear it with your favorite sneakers to run errands around town and throw on a classic pair of black heels in the evening. It’s as easy as that!

3. I Want To Look Edgy

If you love an edgy look, don’t be afraid to throw on a cropped leather jacket that will draw attention to your waist and balance out the shapes. Under your key pieces, wear a simple yet epic slogan t-shirt that will make your look all the more fierce. Layer gold jewelry and strappy heels to complete the outfit.

4. I Want To Look Chic

Sometimes, you just want to dress in black and white and keep things simple – and there is nothing wrong with that, in fact, quite the opposite. I always say that the simplest of looks are usually the most chic, and this is a case in point. Wear your culottes with a wardrobe staple such as a turtle-neck jumper that will cinch you in all the right places and emphasize your silhouette.

5. I Want To Look Smart

Last but not least, here is another way of wearing your culottes in a smart-caj kinda way. Go for a laid-back “undone” look with your shirt tucked out and over your culottes, or rock the latest tuck, with one flap tucked into your trousers. This is a look worthy of Fashion Week street style shots and will make you look like the girlboss you are. Finish the look with sneakers or even a pair of mules for an office-friendly touch.
